Lodge 89 - Hazleton, PA
Whoa, the dog days of summer are upon us. Global warming finally arrived on the eastern coast of the United States. We should not complain… my motto is - at least you do not have to shovel heat. Before you know it, we will be complaining it is too cold.
Saturday, June 5, members from Lodge 89 proceeded to Holy Annunciation Monastery to help with Join Hands Day. Much work was done in a short period of time and Mother Marija was grateful for the donation that was given to her.
June was also our fundraiser for matching funds and with all calendars sold, our goal was reached. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all who volunteered to sell the calendars.
Our Red Hat Divas went to the bingo social on June 22 to help celebrate Diva Dots birthday and we had one lucky winner. We are planning other events for the year and updates will be sent to all.
Congratulations are extended to AI Kringer and Dave Rohrbach Their team placed second in the Hazleton Men's bowling association. These two guys are on a lucky streak, they took first place with their team members at Valley Lanes and also at Bowl-Arena. Way to go guys, keep knocking those pins down.
Speaking of bowling, the GCU 89'ers will be getting back in the groove soon. Before you know it, the regular season will be upon us. Time to get back in shape and be ready to bowl your first 300 game.
Many thanks to the kitchen staff for making the holupki for the District 6 "Joseph Durkay Memorial" Holupki open. The 1 pounders were a big hit with the winners.
