It
seems as though there is always something going on at lodge 89. On
Sunday, April 27, we were host to District 6 for their second quarter
meeting. A light luncheon was served and business then proceeded as usual.
Plans were discussed with the delegates from Lodge 89 regarding the bus
to take them to the convention at Baltimore ’s Inner Harbor .
The
GCU 89'ers Bowling league had three teams enter the HWBA city tournament.
None of the teams came back winners, but congratulations are extended
to Mary Ellen Fichter and Claire Kaschak for placing second in the doubles
events. The regular season of bowling ended April 23 and the banquet
will be held on May 28 at Ferdinand's Restaurant for distribution of
awards and prize money.
As usual, the Red Hat Divas have a bevy of activities
going on almost once a month. April 25 was National Red Hat Day, so we celebrated
a few days earlier with a nice get together that was attended by over 30 of
the Divas. On Monday, May 19, a bracelet beading class was held at St.
John's BC Church hall and was attended by 23. We all showed our artistic
side and created some beautiful bracelets. Thanks to Peggy Hiza for a
great demonstration. On June 24, we are going to help Diva Dots celebrate
her birthday by attending the bingo bash at St. John's . This is a big
hit every year and everyone has a good time.
Deepest sympathy wishes
are extended to the family of Ethel Novitsky who passed away on May 2. She was
an avid GCU member, pirohi worker, always willing to lend a helping hand and
was one of the auditors for Lodge 89. She will be greatly missed by all. May
God grant her eternal repose.
To all fathers, grandfathers, uncles and godfathers,
here is wishing all a Happy Father's Day.
Have a great summer and hope to see
you at the Convention. Till next time, take care and May God Bless.
