They
are among the youngest GCU members of Lodge 151—Julia Hulak’s
grandchildren. Max Hulak, age 10, Abigail Michaela Hulak, and
Megan Alexandra Hulak, one-year old twin girls. Their proud parents
are Mark and Tasha Hulak and they live in Seattle, Washington.
Mark works for Microsoft. Tasha is employed by Bank of America.
Max
is a wonderful and happy boy who loves visiting with his Aunt Christine,
fraternal director of Lodge 151, Aunt Marilyn, Uncle Will, Uncle
James and Grandma. He loves cars; they used to be Matchbox cars,
but now Max and his Dad are looking for the perfect sports car
to drive when he is older. Max plays soccer and baseball with aplomb,
and swims like an athlete. He loves computer games and building
robots….and loves his two new sisters. Abigail
and Megan celebrated their first birthdays on May 18, and love
to bounce joyously in their walkers, and smile all the time. They
really love their older brother Max.
Julie Hulak is lucky enough
to have two other grandchildren, Austin 18 and Jennifer 16. They
are the children of Paul and Susan Hulak and live in Fresno, California.
Jennifer goes to Clovis Regional High School in Clovis Calif. Austin
attends the University of California at Santa Barbara. They are
busy teenagers.
Our spring luncheon turned out to be very nice
for the people that attended. The Chinese food was delicious and plentiful. The
talent show was a good idea. Barbara read an inspirational passage
The Desiderata. It expresses ones hopes and desires for living
a good life. Chris and Marge said jokes and Helen and others sang
some Slovak songs. We want to say a special thanks to Alex Marchak
for his continual support.
Our next event for the year is the Day
at the Races at Belmont Racetrack on July 10, 2008. The cost is $40 and includes
lunch, inside seating at the finish line, access to the club house, and
free parking. For more information and tickets call Marge at 1-718-347-7059.
Our annual Slovak and matching funds luncheon will be
held in Jersey City on September 14, 2008. Our matching funds project for the
year goes to ALS Association in the name of Dorothy Reuther Patient Care fund.
Keep the date open. We hope to have a nice group. More information will be forthcoming.
Congratulations to lodge member Kathleen Duhamel on her marriage to Randall Voorhees
on May 16, 2008 at the Manor in West Orange, New Jersey. Her parents Joanne and
Paul, sisters Nadine and Meredith and brother Tom and family happily participated
in the ceremony. Kathleen is the granddaughter of the late Ann Mikula. We wish
her many years of happiness.
