Lodge 15 - Trenton, NJ

This sure has been one long hot summer, and hopefully, there will be some relief coming soon!
In May, Lodge 15 took a bus trip to Delaware Park and Casino as our matching funds project. There were indeed many happy faces on the return trip. The successful trip enabled the lodge to present a check in the amount of $500 to Father Gregory Noga to be applied toward the cost of the recently acquired Shroud of the Dormition.
In accordance with Pope Benedict XVI’s designation of the "Year of the Priest," a dinner was held in Father Gregory Noga's honor. Our lodge members helped in the preparation and serving of the dinner which was held in the parish hall. Initially, Deacon Thomas Vanisko presented a book entitled "Architecture in Icon" to Father Gregory on behalf of the parishioners, and then Roger Embley, parish lay representative and GCU national director made the following remarks as part of a wine toast saying, "Father Gregory your ministry knows no bounds in all you do in administering to your parishes, eparchial responsibilities and other related involvements. We are most fortunate that you serve as our pastor and have provided strong administrative efforts for us and the church's wellbeing". Glasses were raised with the greeting "Na Mnohaja i Blahaja L’ita". Subsequently, Lodge President Marcy Embley presented a gift to Father Gregory and thanked him for his interest in serving as the lodge chaplain and in providing guidance and counsel while attending the meetings.
The lodge continues to collect eyeglasses for the local Lion's Club. A container is available in the vestibule of our church, Assumption of the Virgin Mary BCC in Trenton, NJ. For your convenience, you could contact, Marcy Embley at 609-585-3758 to have glasses picked up.
Currently in the planning stage is a trip to the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA during October. This will be a matching funds project to benefit the Sunshine Foundation of Mercer County, NJ.
The third quarterly lodge meeting is scheduled for Sunday, September 19, 2010 to be held in the parish social hall at the comer of Beatty and Adeline Streets following the 9 am Divine Liturgy at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary BCC, Trenton, NJ.
Looking forward to seeing you there so that we may meet and greet, and welcome any new suggestions or ideas. Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day holiday!
