District 5 Recent Events

SWB Yankees Baseball Game and Tailgate Party. Once again, the weather cooperated for a great night at the baseball park. The tailgate party started around 4 pm on the grass outside the PNC Ballpark, on Saturday, July 31. Forty-four people were in attendance. Catered by Ellis Market, the tailgate was a bountiful array of picnic food obviously enjoyed by all. The SWB Yankees were victorious, with a winning score of 2-1 over the Syracuse Chiefs. The Amazing Skyy Dogs USA and Rockin Ray entertained the crowd between innings. Those in attendance received a SWB Yankee cap. The food was good and the night entertaining.
2010 District 5 Golf Tournament. District 5 golfers had a beautiful day in the sun for the annual golf tournament held on Saturday, August 7 at the Sugarloaf Golf Club. There were 48 participants for the event.
The team of Jerry and Sue Grohowski, Cheryl May and Amy Fee took first place in the championship flight with a net score of 55. Proximity prizes were awarded for closest to the pin, and seven longest drives were contested by age and gender. Each contestant received a sleeve of balls and a sunscreen packet, compliments of the GCU Home Office. All participants also were awarded door prizes. A pig roast followed with all the trimmings.
Thank yous are extended to all hole sponsors, door prize donors, and golfers who helped make this tournament a great success. We cannot thank Krissy Williams enough for filling in on the morning of the tournament to officiate the Hole-in-One and Pot-of-Gold contest. Krissy also acted as photographer for the day. Next year's tournament is scheduled for Saturday, August 6, 2011. Plan it now and mark those calendars!
