Spring
began with the annual American Cancer Society Daffodil Days fund raiser.
Our volunteers from District 5 wrapped, delivered, and sold daffodils
and bears to benefit this worthy cause, March 24-28. Volunteers included,
but not limited to, were: Dolores Mokay, Toppy Zayac, Melissa Gambal,
Janice Dragan, and the Dolinish family, Alice, Ed Sr., Ilona, Tanya,
Ed Jr., and Gina Keil.
On Friday night, April 4th, our district had 43 fans attend the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey game against the Springfield Falcons. The Penguins had a decisive victory. Hopefully, they can continue their winning ways as they progress thru the playoffs toward the Calder Cup.
Several of our bowlers traveled to West Hazleton, PA to participate in District 6's No Tap Tournament. Some people were lucky enough to be paired with the right partner to achieve victory and take home some cash. A delicious buffet at the Safe Harbor Lighthouse concluded our evening. Thanks District 6 for your hospitality.
Our first Adopt-a-Highway pickup of the year was
held on Saturday, April 19. We had a few new faces, Crystal Vladika,
Adrianna Vladika, and Kaitlyn Washo. We really appreciate all the help received
from our volunteers to keep our environment clean. Ed Dolinish Jr. will be in
touch as to when our next pickup will be. Everyone is welcome. We can always
use more volunteers.
